Happy October and Happy Fall Ya’ll! Soak up the crisp autumn air, the changing colors, and the beginning of the holiday season. Yes, it’s officially the holiday season. Let’s face it, the holidays start when October hits with Indigenous People’s Day and Halloween; Diwali, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving in November; and Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa in December \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are going to be at 9 conferences in the next 9 weeks and we can’t wait to see you in person, talk about some new ideas, and have some fun together! Make sure you find us at the next conference you go to — it’s what makes our hearts happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candy corn, wicked witches, haunted houses, pumpkin patches, and Coding with Caroline. All of our favorite Halloween alliterations!\u00a0 Join Caroline and the MAD-learn team this Thursday, October 17th from 4-5PM for Coding with Caroline Level 2.\u00a0 In this hands-on session, our Curriculum and Implementation Specialist Caroline Westervelt will showcase our latest coding curriculum while participants have the chance to code along and ask questions. This is a special opportunity to learn more about our new coding curriculum and how to introduce both HTML and CSS to your students. If you missed last week\u2019s session, stay tuned for the video coming soon. CSEd Week<\/a>\u00a0is around the corner (December 9-15) and we can\u2019t wait for our next installment of our virtual\u00a0Student Showcase<\/strong>\u00a0event.\u00a0 If you missed last year\u2019s showcase,\u00a0click here<\/a>\u00a0to hear directly from students as they share their experiences with MAD-learn\u2019s mobile app development.\u00a0 This year\u2019s showcase will be here before you know it and we would love for teachers to get students excited and think about who to nominate to present at this year\u2019s special event.\u00a0 Do you have students who created an exceptional app and love to share? Or, who have a brilliant app idea that they want to create?\u00a0 Give them the chance to sparkle as we shine the spotlight on them and their accomplishments.\u00a0 While our Student Showcase\u00a0 is still a few months away, we wanted to ensure it was on your radar as we are nearing the end of the year and the busy season takes over. Last week, MAD-learn visited Maui to kick off an app camp and train teachers on how to use mobile app development with their students.\u00a0 Some were even lucky enough to learn the hula with a hula instructor – who created an app for her hula classes during their professional development. We also ran into MAD-friends in Portland, Oregon last week for the ACTE Best Practices conference and this week, we\u2019re in Boise, Idaho to show teachers how to use MAD-learn with their 4-H programs at the NAE4-HYDP 2024 Annual Conference. If you are local to Georgia and will be at the\u00a0GA STEM\/STEAM Forum<\/a>\u00a0next week, make sure you come by and say hello!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love recognizing teachers who are novices in a content area and still knock it out of the park. Oceanside Middle School teacher Brandon Crofts is teaching computer science for the first time with his middle schoolers and we are loving their apps!\u00a0 Students in Mr. Crofts class are creating study guide apps using the flashcards and quiz coding templates.\u00a0 We love apps with a purpose, especially when they are cross-curricular. Keep up the amazing work Mr. Crofts!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
