Stay Golden: MAD-students win GOLD for Georgia App Design Challenge

Students are creating #appsthatmatter using MAD-learn and we have the receipts.  We are extremely proud of the student team at Barber Middle School in Cobb County who were the GOLD WINNERS of the 2023 Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) CS4GA App and Design Challenge! Their app, Unify, was lauded for community advocacy, overall design, and innovative thinking. The Unify team received Google and CEISMC “swag” bags and was awarded a six-month internship with MAD-learn.

On the subject of highlights, MAD-learn was honored to be a sponsor of the CS4GA App design challenge- a statewide computer programming competition for Georgia students with the goal of allowing middle and high school students to gain recognition for their app design and app development skills. The theme of the challenge was Community Advocacy Project- geared towards promoting awareness, community service, and innovation.

The Unify team members are now GaDOE CS Ambassadors and will present their app at the Georgia World Congress Center on July 12, 2023, during MathCon.  The official announcement was made on March 27 2023 during the CS4GA Summit and MAD-learn was present to cheer the students on.

It was such a thrill to hear these words from Arthur O’Neill, Cobb County’s Career Education Supervisor (Division of Applied Learning and Design): “The CTAE team is so PROUD of the Unify team and I know Alefiya Master will be extremely excited for the students. Thank you for challenging your students to strive for excellence in making their community better.”

The entire MAD-learn team would like to say a big congratulations to these amazing students. We are proud of you!
