This is always such an exciting time – setting things up for a successful year ahead and welcoming those new faces into our classrooms. Guardians of Heritage: Elder in Ghana <\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n
We are so used to working remotely, both with other team members and teachers, that we relish the rare opportunity to meet face-to-face.\u00a0Project Manager\/Marketing Coordinator Doreen Frempong-Baah had one such opportunity when she was visited in her hometown of Accra, Ghana by Nana Anoa, an elder in the Guardians of Heritage Project (see the July edition of MAD-news). \u201cIt was a beautiful meeting full of laughter and great conversations. I went to see her with my husband, my son, and my brother.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Doreen added, \u201cWe all felt like we had known Nana for years. It certainly did not feel like our first meeting. My son warmed up to her so quickly (which rarely happens when he meets someone for the first time!) We also found out that Nana’s hotel is a two-minute walk from my husband’s office! It was really nice catching up and talking about her experience in Ghana.\u201d\u00a0So great to make such awesome connections, IRL!<\/span><\/div>\n

Longtime MAD-learn user and certified MAD-expert in DeKalb County Public Schools, Heather Miller, will be presenting at the<\/span> Georgia Educational Technology Conference<\/span><\/a>\u00a0#GaETC22!\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Her session, \u201cNo More Posters! No More Papers! Making Mobile Apps Across the Curriculum\u201d, will focus on her experience in leveraging mobile apps as a vital element in helping her students better understand not just computer science mastery, but a variety of curricular elements, as well.\u00a0<\/span>Congratulations on your session getting accepted, Heather, and thanks for sharing the MAD-learn love at this phenomenal conference! Grants for GA Teachers<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Georgia Educational Technology Consortium (GaETC) offers technology innovation grants to teachers in Georgia. Funding is given to \u201cinnovative technology projects that enhance the teaching and learning to improve student outcomes.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>The opportunity to apply for a Technology Innovation Grant is open to elementary, middle, and high school teachers, media specialists, counselors, or any combination of persons within a school setting in Georgia.\u00a0Five Innovation Grants of $3,000 each will be awarded to support technology-based projects in Georgia. The deadline to apply is September 16.<\/span> Apply here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Minouche Turenne had been saving up for quite a while, and she cashed in big time this past school year! This Woodlands Middle School teacher (from The School District of Palm Beach County) attended multiple training sessions over the years, but circumstances always seemed to prevent her from implementing MAD-learn\u2026until this past April and May.\u00a0<\/span>Minouche teaches Coding to 7th Graders and Information Technology to 6th Graders. She loves to learn new things that \u201cwill allow me to teach my students different ways to excel beyond what they can imagine. Coding is my passion which led me to MAD-learn.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
