MAD-store Publication and Ideation Guidelines<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

We have often shared how much we value the input from teachers and students regarding the development of MAD-learn\u2019s curriculum and app building tool. One of the latest tutorials was conceived on a suggestion from Calvin Jordan, a teacher at MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. Calvin teaches Entrepreneurship\/AV Technology\/Business Information Management. He suggested that a detailed overview of the \u201cMAD-store Publication Guidelines\u201d would be helpful for both teachers and students to view before submitting a request to begin the approval process. This detailed view has been added to the \u201cTesting\u201d videos, making the process a lot clearer. You can check it out on our YouTube channel, here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Diana Robles, MAD-teacher at Harding Township Elementary (NJ) also created a useful document to help students with their process of ideation. Her \u201cIdeation Guide\u201d is included in the “Background” section of the Ideate curriculum resources! MAD-teacher of the Month<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>Duval County Schools\u2019 GEAR UP School Counselor is this month\u2019s MAD-teacher of the Month! Traci Zamor<\/b> is a graduate of the University of South Florida and has been in the field of education for 15 years. Traci supports GEAR UP activities across all seven GEAR UP sites to assist students with promoting to the next grade level.<\/span><\/p>\n

Traci has shared her expertise with others, recently at the 2020 NCCEP Conference in a session entitled \u201cNurturing a College-Going Culture that Ignites Engagement, Involvement, and Buy-In\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n

She has been a critical part of our partnership, which began as a summer \u201cvirtual camp\u201d and continues as a bi-weekly after school tech club. She not only brings a huge amount of enthusiasm to the project, she also works tirelessly to keep the participants involved and engaged. She obviously appreciates what MAD-learn provides for these high schoolers, and their appreciation of her is also evident in every session. Our partnership with GEAR UP programs across the country has been rewarding for everyone involved, and we thank Ms. Zamor for her love of teaching and of her charges!<\/div>\n

Virtual Events, done right!<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
We have all been living (and often suffering) through the virtual conference or virtual event reality of this pandemic time. While most virtual conferences tend to be “sit and get” without much interaction, we were blown away by the interactivity and engagement of NCCEP’s Capacity Building Workshop<\/span><\/a> for GEAR UP professionals across the country last week. We are a proud GEAR UP partner to programs across the country and LOVED NCCEP’s efforts in bringing the community together in an effective way through engaging speakers, interactive chats, 1-1 meetings, attendee messaging, and more.<\/div>\n

Special thanks also to iHUB + Brock University<\/span><\/a> and Teq + SMART<\/span><\/a> for inviting us to speak with attendees at their virtual events and share ideas of how to engage students in meaningful ways.
