Hi Guest,<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

One of the most humbling experiences for me happened a few weeks ago when I sat in on a virtual conference session led by the Duval County GEAR UP team who invited students and parents to share their feedback and experiences with conference attendees. Two of the three students presenting in front of a 200+ zoom audience were in one of our Virtual Summer App Camps that we facilitated over the summer. They talked about how much they loved the experience of building their own mobile apps with us and how it helped them see computer science in a new light! #proudmoment, indeed.<\/p>\n

In these pandemic times, please remember to find the silver linings, the joy, the pride, the happiness in the work that you do. They may be fewer and in different forms, but take every little bit you can. It’s what keeps us going. We know our students need us!<\/p>\n

MAD-teacher of the Month<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0Avondale Elementary mathematics teacher and technology specialist Gwendolyn Reynolds always has a lot on her plate. During her ten years there, she has contributed to efforts to make her Dekalb County school STEM-certified with the implementation of a STEM garden. She leads the school\u2019s coding program, created a well-crafted syllabus for her computer technology course, serves as a role model to her charges, and shares her expertise as a master teacher of MAD-learn.<\/div>\n

Gwen is always ready to learn more and provide every opportunity for her students. Even though she is busy with a number of\u00a0 projects, she has attended each professional development session we have facilitated for the District. She is a pleasure to work with and cares deeply about her students. Always ready with both thoughtful answers and great questions, Gwen approaches her work with a positive attitude and a smile to match!<\/div>\n
