MAD-news for January: Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2026!! We hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday break and are now back in the swing of all things for our students.

We are kicking off the new year with a BANG here at MAD-learn and we are excited to share all the latest with you…

A time to celebrate the guidance, encouragement, and real-world learning that help students grow!

At MAD-learn, internships for students in grades 7 through 12 provide meaningful, hands-on mentoring experiences where students work on real projects, build practical skills, and explore potential career paths in technology and innovation, marketing, event planning, and customer success. These opportunities go beyond boosting résumes; they foster relationships, spark curiosity, and help students see how their ideas and talents can make a real-world impact. With the support of mentors and authentic work experiences, students gain confidence, clarity, and inspiration to envision what’s possible.

We’ve added curriculum to help you prepare your students for the Internet Technology Specialist (ITS): HTML & CSS certification exam! It features:

  • 3 levels of lessons – organized from basic to advanced concepts
  • An interactive slide presentation, worksheets, quizzes, and a final project
  • Quick checks and debugging exercises, embedded throughout
  • Editable resources so you can adapt the materials to best help your students.

Keep an eye out for these valuable resources on the curriculum tab!

Last month, our team had a wonderful time facilitating the

WV GEAR UP App Camp. The students brought so much energy and curiosity to every session, and their excitement while sharing their ideas reminded us why we love this work. We also participated in ACTE’s CareerTech VISION Conference and Expo 2025, where we connected with educators, explored innovative CTE practices, and led our hands-on Building Apps workshop. It was a lively and engaging session that sparked new ideas for bringing app development into classrooms. From student innovation to educator collaboration, this season has been full of inspiration and meaningful growth.

It’s already been a busy start to 2026 in Palm Beach County, Florida! We visited Independence Middle School to help kick off a unit of student app development projects. The excitement students feel when they realize they can “build something real” is unmatched.  We also served as judges for the performance portion of the district’s FBLA competition at Keiser University’s flagship campus.

We are excited to highlight Dr. Gwendolyn D. Mitchell, a dedicated Business and Computer Science educator at Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School in Atlanta,  Georgia. Dr. Mitchell brings warmth, expertise, and steady encouragement to her students, helping them think critically and build the skills they need for the future. Her leadership shines through in every class, and her guidance has played an important role in helping her students succeed in their app development journey with MAD-learn. We are grateful for educators like Dr. Mitchell who champion student creativity and open doors to meaningful learning every day.

One of the highlights of this season has been celebrating the work of talented students from Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School in DeKalb County School District and Independence Middle School in Palm Beach County School District. Their commitment to designing and developing thoughtful apps shows the true spirit of CSEdWeek and the incredible potential students unlock when they have the opportunity to create.
