We’re excited to share one of several upcoming app challenges for students—theNASA App Development Challenge (ADC)! This nationwide coding competition invites high school and community college students to tackle real technical problems supporting the Artemis Generation’s mission to return astronauts to the Moon and eventually land on Mars.

The 2026 challenge kicks off October 1, 2025 and runs through December 10, 2025, with final presentations at Johnson Space Center in April 2026.

In case you missed it in APPetizers, we wanted to remind you there are even more ways for students to innovate and compete! The Congressional App Challenge invites middle and high school students to design and submit original apps on any topic, with winning projects showcased in the U.S. Capitol and at the #HouseOfCode event in D.C. (Deadline: October 30, 2025). The new Presidential AI Challenge calls on K-12 students, educators, and community teams to use AI to solve real-world problems, with top submissions featured nationally (Deadline: January 20, 2026). Both are perfect opportunities to harness MAD-learn for app design, prototyping, and innovation.

We’ve been GEARed UP and on the go this month! Our first stop—Utah—for a high-energy GEAR UP App Camp where students turned ideas into digital reality. Then we hit the road for a back-to-school blitz, sharing MAD-learn magic with amazing educators at Cobb County SD, DeKalb County SD, and The School District of Palm Beach County. From coding camps to conference halls, we’ve been everywhere sparking inspiration, building skills, and helping teachers and students kick off the school year with an “app-titude” for innovation!

In Jessica Mishima-Donahue’s STEAM lab at Makaha Elementary in Hawaii, students took a refreshing approach to entrepreneurship—literally! They dreamed up unique lemonade recipes, designed eye-catching flyers, and built custom mobile apps with MAD-learn. Blending financial literacy, marketing savvy, and mobile technology, this hands-on project culminated in a vibrant pop-up business showcase where student creativity truly shined.
